Our desire is to see every individual become successful and self sufficient and our goal is to equip you as quickly as possible to have stable housing, transportation, and employment. We are work-based program.
Our efforts and ministry are inspired by Christ's redemptive nature.
He wants each of us restored and whole.
Psalm 9:9

Christ City of Refuge exists to provide structured transitional housing, employment support, and transportation assistance to individuals overcoming homelessness, addiction, and incarceration. Through accountability, stability, and community partnership, we help individuals rebuild their lives and move toward long-term independence.
Christ City of Refuge has guidelines designed to protect the integrity of the program and maintain our property. Participation in the residential program requires the ability and willingness to work. Once employed, each resident is required to save $300 per week with the program, which will be returned upon departure to help secure stable housing. Residents are also expected to assist with maintaining the grounds as part of their commitment to the community. Both current and former residents remain a valued part of our community, staying connected with program team leaders and our faith family.
Another service we provide is transportation for individuals battling addiction to drug or alcohol detox and rehabilitation facilities. Upon successfully completing a rehabilitation program, individuals may begin the admissions process for our residential program if they choose. Having the opportunity to transition into a safe, supportive environment - rather than returning to the same challenges they faced before - has greatly increased the success rate of our residents.
Our facility is nestled in a peaceful residential neighborhood in Hartsville, SC, and is designed to create a comfortable, welcoming environment for our residents. The property features modern amenities, including private single cabins, a communal area with a full kitchen and living room, laundry facilities, and bath houses. Beautiful outdoor spaces with a countryside view and a serene pond provide a campground-style setting where residents can relax, reflect, and connect with nature.
Our staff is made up of experienced, caring, and compassionate professionals who are dedicated to helping our clients achieve a fresh start. We provide 24/7 support and care, and work closely with each resident to ensure that they are making progress towards their goals.
The Executive Director Jimmy Johnson also provides church services every Sunday morning at Zion Assembly and also welcomes you to come worship with us.
If you or a loved one is struggling, we are here to help. Contact us today to learn more about our programs and services, and to schedule a consultation with one of our staff members.
